The early Christian Fathers and the Essenes of Qumran respected ‘The Book of Enoch’ but by the 4th century AD the text was deemed heretical and all extant copies were destroyed. Then in the 18th century, a surviving Ethiopic version was found. It tells of ‘Watchers’, visions, a Son of God, the universe’s make up and the apocalyptic final judge
