We like to tell ourselves that the world hasn’t gone really mad, that this is a comforting illusion. Alice doesn’t know what it is, but she’s fighting to make sure she’s not Ground Zero for the Scapegoat of are about to get weird, dark, sorcerous, and very complicated, and all we have is a sense of humor, a strange plot, and unlikely assortment of oddly-recruited Chosen the knowledge that, most likely, we’re all gonna not even the mightiest keep is proof against a world gone utterly stark-raving, dangerously nutter.
